BRITS will have to wear face masks for at least the next YEAR, Sadiq Khan warned today.

The London Mayor said earlier that they will become the “norm” rather than the exception for months to come.

Masks will become the norm for the next year, Sadiq Khan said

It came on the same day as wearing masks on all public transport became mandatory.

Anyone going on a train, tube, bus, ferry or plane must cover their face up.

If they refuse, they could be denied entry onto public transport, or face a £100 fine.

Mr Khan told LBC tonight: “For the next year or so, wearing face coverings will be the norm rather than the exception.”

The Mayor had been pushing for people to wear masks on transport before the Government announced it would become compulsory.

The Government has said they will keep the face coverings rules under review.

Brits are also asked to wear masks where they can’t keep to social distancing rules, either.

That means in shops, lifts or supermarkets, where people may have to get closer.

Many airlines have insisted that people wear masks too.

New guidance out from the Department for Transport last week said there should be increased cleaning, alongside urging customers to check in their hand luggage.
