Child molester Tory MP Imran Ahmad Khan FINALLY resigns from Parliament weeks after conviction

CONVICTED child molester Imran Ahmad Khan today finally quit as a Tory MP after stringing out his resignation.

The shamed politician formally gave up his Wakefield seat and left Parliament for good following his sex attack verdict.

Khan, 48, was last month found guilty of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy in 2008. 

While failing to offer a shred of remorse, he announced he was resigning as an MP and leaving politics. 

But until now he had not come good on his promise and had been pocketing his MP salary – sparking fury. 

Today the Treasury confirmed Ahmad Khan had quit by applying for the job of Steward and Bailiff of the Three Hundreds of Chiltern.

MPs are technically not allowed to quit and so have to be appointed to the archaic position which automatically triggers the resignation. 

It means a by-election will now be held in his Red Wall constituency and will be a key test for Boris Johnson’s leadership.

Southwark Crown Court heard that Khan, a gay Muslim elected to Parliament in 2019, forced the then-teenager to drink gin and tonic and dragged him upstairs.

He pushed him on to a bed and asked him to watch pornography before the attack at a house in Staffordshire in January 2008.

In a statement last month Khan said: “While legal proceedings are ongoing, I do not believe that it would ordinarily be appropriate to resign.

“However, owing to long delays in the legal process, my constituents have already been without visible parliamentary representation for a year.”

He went on: “I have therefore regrettably come to the conclusion that it is intolerable for constituents to go years without an MP who can amplify their voiced in Parliament.”
