A LABOUR candidate has attacked the Poppy Appeal – saying supporters are backing the blatant glorification of war.

Mhairi Threlfall believes the public should wear their poppy if they want to cheer on the continued legalised mass murder.

Labour candidate Mhairi Threlfall has said people should only wear a poppy if they want to cheer on ‘legalised mass murder’

She is contesting the Tory held marginal seat of Filton and Bradley Stoke in Gloucestershire held by Jack Lopresti who was first elected in 2010.

In a Facebook post on the eve of Remembrance Day in 2014 she asks others to wear a white poppy for peace.

She accompanied the message with words from Harry Patch who was the last surviving soldier of the First World War.

He said that politicians who took us to war should have been given the guns and told to settle their differences themselves, instead of organising nothing better than legalised mass murder.

Mhairi Threlfall last night said: I shouldnt have posted this and I realised this a long time ago and deleted it back then.

I always wear a red and a white poppy to commemorate Remembrance Sunday and Im a member of the British Legion.
