CORBYN’S grip on power is all but gone and his resignation is on the cards, the battle to succeed the defeated leader is already in full swing.

When does the Labour leadership contest start?
Jeremy Corbyn said he would stay in place while the party decides who will take the crown.
There is no deputy leader to fill the position after Tom Watson stood down as MP earlier this year.
The party’s general secretary, Jennie Formby, wrote to the national executive with a recommended start date of January 7.
Lisa Nandy has been previously approached to challenge Corbyn’s leadership
Corbyn said it is up to the National Executive Committee (NEC) – Labour’s governing body – to decide when he steps down as leader.
He says he expects a new leader to be selected early in the new year.
Emily Thornberry has thrown her hat into the ring for the Labour leadership on December 18.
The Islington South MP could end up fighting for the leadership with Rebecca Long Bailey, Angela Rayner, Lisa Nandy, Keir Starmer, Clive Lewis and David Lammy who are all expected to announce themselves.
She is the first candidate to confirm they want to replace Jeremy Corbyn following the party’s disastrous election defeat.
In 2015, the process took more than four months.
Ed Miliband resigned on May 8 and Jeremy Corbyn was announced as the new leader on 12 September.
