NAIL bars, salons and outdoor pools can reopen in Leicester from TOMORROW as restrictions are eased following a drop in cases.

But current rules banning gatherings in private homes and gardens will remain in place for now to drive cases down even further.

Leciester will see some lockdown measures eased from tomorrow, it was revealed today

Tanning booths and salons, spas, massage parlours, tattoo parlours, body and skin piercing services, and outdoor pools can lawfully reopen from tomorrow after weeks shut to try and control the spread.

It follows pubs and restaurants throwing their doors open, which they were able to do from Monday, 3 August.

Several mobile testing units and four local sites will stay in place to provide additional capacity to the city and surrounding areas.

The new rules will come into place at midnight tonight.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said at the news today: “My gratitude goes out to the people of Leicester who have all made sacrifices to keep the virus at bay and protect their local communities.

“The rate of infection has now dropped to a safe enough level to allow further businesses including beauty salons, nail bars and some outdoor venues to reopen in the area. Current restrictions on gatherings must remain in place to further bring down the rate of infection.

“We must remain vigilant, and I urge everyone in Leicester to continue to follow the rules – wash your hands regularly, follow social distancing, get yourself a free test as soon as you get any symptoms, and isolate if NHS Test and Trace tells you to.”
