STREATHAMs Labour MP called for an end to the governments counter terror programme last year.

Bell Ribeiro-Addy had bashed ministers for failing to stop Sundays attack in her constituency.

Bell Ribeiro-Addy had previously bashed the Prevent scheme.

Elected in December, just two months earlier she had labelled terror Prevent scheme an attack on human rights.

Prevent is a campaign group who aim to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.

On Twitter, she wrote: The Tories have repeatedly attacked our civil liberties.

As Streathams MP I would stand up against attempts to undermine our human rights and against discriminatory counter-terror policies like Prevent.

Despite this, she then laid into justice secretary Robert Buckland on Monday over a lack of measures preventing the sick attack.

She said: The minister says that we are at the forefront of tackling terrorism and that we have robust measures in place, but those measures did not prevent what happened in my constituency.

Will the minister assure me and the people of Streatham, that there is no circumstance, no measure that could have been taken, that would have stopped this individual from being released?

Sudesh Amman was shot dead by police after he stabbed two people, just weeks after being released on licence from Belmarsh prison.

The release came halfway through his three years and four months sentence for possessing terrorist material.

Despite criticising Prevent, Ms Ribeiro-Addy now appears to believe that the police should have been able to stop Amman from being released.

She said: Im really worried to find out that this individual had been released from prison just last week, and that he immediately came under surveillance.

I find that very very strange, if you need to be under surveillance immediately it begs the question why you were released in the first place.
