LABOUR faces a Black Country bludgeoning, with voters on the brink of giving Jeremy Corbyn a bloody nose at next months polls.

The party descended into chaos in the West Midlands this week when deputy leader Tom Watson, whose seat in West Bromwich East is a key Tory target, quit.

Kelly Moses, 45, a resident and landlady in Dudley, says: ‘I fear the UK could end up back in the 1930s if Labour gets in’

And former Labour MP Ian Austin sensationally called on voters to back Boris Johnson.

Austins old constituency, Dudley North, has a tiny Labour majority of just 22 votes the partys smallest in the UK.

And Labour voters in the West Midlands, where almost half of the partys 50 most vulnerable seats are located, this week told how they will be voting Conservative for the first time.

In Dudley North, Irene Harris, 78, said: I have voted Labour all my life. But Labour does not represent working people any more.

It is refusing to get us out of the EU. Im sad to say it but I will be voting Tory for the first time.

Yards away from the Black Country Living Museum a replica of 1930s life the landlady of The Old Priory pub vows to do the same.

Kelly Moses, 45, said: The museum celebrates life in the 1930s, but it was hard then.

I fear the whole of the UK could end up back in the 1930s if Labour gets in. Staying in the EU will set us back and I dont trust Labour to take us out.

One in 20 people of working age in the market town is unemployed. In 2016, 71.4 per cent voted to Leave one of the highest margins in the country.

Former factory worker Brian Tranter, 64, who now sells shoes in Dudleys open-air market, said: I want us to leave the EU. Its time we got to govern ourselves again. Labour will just take us back to the 1970s.

When I had a job in the steelworks the union leaders would ask for 30 per cent pay rises, which were completely unaffordable, then be off travelling to conventions in the Soviet Union.

The current Labour leadership is full of communists, just like they were.

Gurgit Singh, 49, is fiercely critical of his local Labour council. The newsagent said: They spent 6.7million on refurbishing the market and closed this street for two years while work went on. Four businesses went under.

The Labour council has destroyed Dudley and a Labour government will do the same to Britain. Ill be voting Conservative.

Four miles away is West Midlands East Tom Watsons former constituency. Labours majority there is more than 7,000 but Tory analysts reckon it could swing to the Conservatives for the first time.

Retired warehouse manager Roy Charlton, 78, said: Tom Watsons constituents voted to Leave but he was against it. I will most likely be voting Conservative.

Down the road at the Friar Park Millennium Centre, Bill Brazier, 65, said: Watsons picture used to be on the wall at the front but someone took it down three weeks ago. Corbyn is even worse. I cant vote for someone who shakes hands with terrorists.

But if Boris came down here Id pat him on the back.

At the Smethwick Labour Club & Institute Union, Ray Winnett hit back at comments made by Labour MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle, who claimed support for Brexit had led to people spouting nationalist views.

Ray, 75, said: Whats racist about wanting your country to stand on its own two feet?

In the 1950s, before we joined the EU, there was work for everyone and we can become a great country once more if we are allowed to break free of the EU.
