When does Little Britain’s Brexit special air and what is it about?

Stars and writers Matt Lucas and David Walliams have penned a one-off special of their rib-tickling humour, originally broadcast on the BBC, set to air on BBC Radio 4 on Halloween (October 31, 2019.)

You can catch it THIS THURSDAY on BBC Radio 4 at 6:30pm.

Its title has switched to Little Brexit yet the infamous characters based on ‘Little England’ mentality, including gobby Vicky Pollard and pals Lou and Andy, will stay very much the same.

The unexpected comeback to radio – where the series first began in 2000 – will no doubt delight legions of fans wanting some light relief from the political mess in Westminster.

The series marks a comeback a whopping 14 years after it last aired.

The show was a huge hit with its colourful characters

Who’s in the cast of Little Britain’s Brexit special?

The special will star the original cast which of course means comic geniuses Matt Lucas and David Walliams.

And Matt posted a pic of him with David and former Doctor Who star Tom Baker, hinting that he too will make a return as narrator.

It is believed original Little Britain actors Ruth Jones and Anthony Stewart-Head will also make an appearance.

Commissioning editor for Radio 4 comedy, Sioned Wiliam, said: Matt Lucas and David Walliams are uniquely talented writers and performers as well as one of the UK’s most loved comedy duos.

It’s a privilege to have them back on Radio 4, where Little Britain first began almost 20 years ago.

What has David Walliams said about the Little Britain Brexit special?

David, now a Britain’s Got Talent judge, couldn’t contain his delight at the comeback and took to Twitter to gush: “We are back back back! “#LittleBrexit is on @BBCRadio4 on Thursday 31st of October at 6:30pm.”

He later clarified: #LittleBrexit was recorded last night at @ShawTheatreLdn and will be on @BBCRadio4 on Thursday at 6:30pm.”

Why did Matt Lucas and David Williams fall out?

The pair stoppedworking with each other in 2011, amid reports the friendship became strained.

Matt wrote in his autobiography about how tensions rose between the pair in 2005 during their epic Little Britain Live tour, leading to a spectacular fight backstage one night.

One particular disagreement over David’s facial hair during the tour turned into an all-out screaming match.

Matt explained they were “suddenly hurling obscenities at each other”.

While they managed to make amends, they locked horns again while on the Australian leg of the tour in 2007 and despite making their second show, Come Fly With Me, together, the partnership dissolved in 2011.

In the book, Matt also made a series of snide digs at his former partner, sniping: “Walliams has now sold so many children’s books he can probably buy his own private jet, all decked out in pink, with a river inside it for him to swim up.”

But it didn’t stop there.

David got his own back when he released his own autobiography, Camp David in 2012.

While promoting the book he was asked about his relationship with Matt on Radio 4, to which he replied: “Were very different people and probably want different things and had different working methods.

He added: “Well, its over for the time being. Whether its over forever I dont know.”

It wasn’t until 2011 Matt and David stopped talking for good untilthey reunited at the late Dale Winton’s funeral in May this year.

How did David Walliams and Matt Lucas meet?

Matt and David met at the National Youth Theatre in the early 90s and quickly bonded over their love of comedy and impressions.

After smaller TV parts they finally made it big in 2003 with Little Britain, with the show running until 2009.

They also came together to write and star in Come Fly With Me and Rock Profiles.
