THE BBC should play God Save The Queen every day, say Tories.

Andrew Rosindell MP told the Commons the anthem provides “a great sense of unity and pride”.

The BBC should play God Save The Queen every day, say Tories, as it provides ‘a great sense of unity and pride’

He said during the Platinum Jubilee the BBC should play it at the end of programming — at 1am or 2am depending on weekdays or weekends.

Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries described the suggestion as “fantastic”.

The BBC used to play the anthem every night but the tradition was scrapped in 1997.

Culture minister Chris Philp backed the idea and other expressions of patriotism, including flying the Union Jack.

He said: “The more we hear the national anthem sung, frankly, the better.

“Organisations like schools are free to promote it and the more we can do in this area, the better it’ll be.”
