CANADIANS are already “beginning to chafe” and grow worried about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s potential security costs, an expert has claimed.

Journalist Mark Steyn said there was already growing concern at the possibility of Canada footing an estimated $1.7million bill to protect the Duke and Duchess.

Columnist Mark Steyn said Canadians were beginning to feel uneasy at the potential costs of protecting Harry and Meghan

Speaking on Fox News Tucker Carlson Tonight, Mark Steyn said Canadians would be questioning the potential costs that may come with the high-profile move.

He said: Right now, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Mounties, are going to have to pick up the half-million-dollar tab for Harry and Meghan’s security costs in Canada.

People are already beginning to chafe under that.

Referring to Meghans recently confirmed deal with Disney, the columnist branded footage of Prince Harry touting his wife for work as the lowest point in the monarchy for nearly a century.

And while Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the public are supportive of the couples move, there was still lots of discussions to have with security high on the agenda.

Speaking to Canadian TV network he said: There are still a lot of decisions to be taken by the Royal Family, by the Sussexes themselves, as to what level of engagement they choose to have.

We are obviously supportive of their reflections but have responsibilities in that as well.

The couple are planning to move to Canada after they announced they would step down as senior Royal Family members.

The Queen and other senior royals are working towards a plan that will see the Sussexes spend the majority of their time in the country.

The monarch began a crisis summit on Monday, and released a statement on the future of the royal couple.

It said: “”My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry andMeghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family.

“Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.”

It’s thought the bill for the Duke and Duchess of Sussexs protection team currently stands at about 600,000 a year, which is paid for by the taxpayer.

The Times reported that the costs are ‘spiralling out of control” and quoted a top cop who said the royal couple did not understand the seriousness of what they were demanding.

A Scotland Yard chief said they have not thought out the security implications of their move and have put the Met in an impossible situation.
