CHARLES and Camilla are leaving Covid-19 isolation and returning to face-to-face senior royal work, it can be revealed.
The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will meet the French President at Clarence House on Thursday.
It is the first non-virtual royal engagement arranged since William and Kate visited an NHS 111 call centre on March 19 three months ago.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are also said to be preparing for a return next week.
A source said: “This is not a wholesale return to public-facing duties but one or two more public engagements are planned.” The royals have been restricted to video conferences and phone calls to charities during lockdown.
Charles, 71, has been in isolation at Birkhall, Scotland, with Camilla, 72, after being struck down with Covid-19.
It is understood they will be based at Highgrove, Glos., after moving from Scotland.
Emmanual Macron will be in London to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of General de Gaulle’s call to arms for a French Resistance under Nazi occupation.
The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will formally receive President Emmanuel Macron at Clarence House with a Guard of Honour from Number 7 Company Coldstream Guards and by the Band of the Coldstream Guards.
The anniversary will mark exiled general De Gaulle’s famous ‘Appel’ broadcast to France from BBC Broadcasting House on June 18, 1940. The radio address during World War II helped create the French Resistance to fight the Nazis.
Strict social-distancing measures at Clarence House will be in place, a source said.
A No10 spokesman said: “President Macron will visit the UK next week.
“This is to mark the 80th anniversary of De Gaulle’s Appel.
“When he is here he will attend commemorations with the Prince of Wales, and after he will have a programme with the PM which will include a bilateral meeting.”
Macron will not be subjected to a two-week quarantine because of his diplomatic status, sources revealed.
The Queen will attend a small Trooping of the Colour bash on Sunday morning to mark her public birthday at Windsor Castle.
But there are no plans for the Queen to be back at functions and events.
Plans are also well advanced for William and Kate to get out of Anmer Hall, Norfolk, and back to work.
