TWO more NHS Nightingale hospitals will be opened in Bristol and Harrogate, NHS England has confirmed.

The two facilities will provide an extra 1,500 beds to help deal with the coronavirus crisis.

This comes as Prince Charles opened a 4,000 bed hospital after recovering from the bug himself.

The 71-year-old launched the NHS Nightingale at the ExCel Centre in East London from his Scottish home via video link.

Ten million people globally could have been infected by Covid-19, Australia’s chief medical officer has said, with the under-reporting down to a lack of testing in some countries.

Britain has confirmed 33,718 had been infected by the deadly bug and 2,961 of those have died.

Since March 18, 1,496,651 people registered only symptoms in line with Covid-19, while another 243,543 assessments were made through NHS 111 and 999 calls.

However this may not mean each call or web assessment was for a different person.

NHS staff may be forced to stop using life-saving treatment, such as ventilators, on dying patients if others with the virus are more likely to survive.

Health workers could be forced to make the decision if hospitals become overwhelmed with patients infected with Covid-19, the latest advise from the British Medical Association (BMS) says.
