THE Duchess of Cambridge paid tribute to her code-breaker gran yesterday with her poppy brooch.

Kate, 37, wore the 29.99 brooch at the Cenotaph in memory of her dads mum, Valerie Glassborow.

The codebreakers poppy was released earlier this year to remember those who worked in signal intelligence and has lest we forget inscribed in the back.

The official poppy website revealed the design of the elegant brooch was inspired by the rotors of the Enigma machines, from which Allied cryptologists successfully decrypted a vast number of enemy messages during the Second World War.

It is called an extraordinary tribute to the work of those in signal intelligence.
