THE author of Finding Freedom claims he had to call the police over threats to burn his house down after he published the tell-all account of Megxit.

Omid Scobie co-authored the revealing book on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex which contained shocking details on how Meghan and Harry decided to leave the firm.

Omid Scobie is royal editor for Harper’s Bazaar and lives in London

His book Finding Freedom was published in August

Scobie, who is also royal editor for Harper’s Bazaar, told Tatler he has had to call the cops after he received threats and abusive messages.

He said: “Have I had to call the police over racist comments and threats to burn my house down? Absolutely.

“The publisher offered security for my parents because we’ve had a couple of unwanted visitors.

“I think the whole thing has spun out of control.”

He added that he now feels he has experienced “a sliver” of what Harry and Meghan are up against.

Scobie’s book, which was published in August, claimed that Meghan had to undergo SAS kidnap training after receiving an unusually high number of threats.

Meghan undertook the intense two-day security course – which all members of the Royal Family must take – much sooner than Duchess of Cambridge took hers.

HOAR Online approached The Met for comment however they were unable to find any reference to a crime at Scobie’s London home.

Omid Scobie’s Tatler interview also revealed:

  • Coronavirus is the “pause Prince Harry needed”
  • Scobie doesn’t even know if Harry and Meghan like him – saying “there will always be that distance between the Sussexes and the press”
  • Scobie was caught LYING after telling Times reporter he was 33 – when he is actually 38
  • He blames two NDAs for preventing him from giving the details on the dismissals of two Sussex staffers
  • He claims Meghan Markle’s friends who didn’t want to be involved in Finding Freedom “changed their minds six months later” over how she had been treated
  • Scobie revealed how he is a glutton for detail and got great scoops thanks to his “natural knack for lip reading”

Tatler also said that Scobie was “upset about being called a social climber” after the biography was released.

Scobie’s explosive account, co-authored with Carolyn Durand, claimed that Harry felt like he and Meghan had been “thrown under a bus” to protect members of the Royal Family.

It was claimed Prince Harry got upset as his reported feud with brother Prince William was played out publicly.

A source told the authors: “Harry was upset that it was playing out so publicly and that so much of the information being reported was wrong.

“There had been moments where he felt people working with his brother had put things out there to make William look good, even if it meant throwing Harry under the bus.

“It was a confusing time, and his head was all over the place—he didn’t know who or what to believe, and he and William weren’t talking enough either, which made everything a lot worse.”

The bombshell biography came out in August
