PRINCE George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have their own vegetable patch at Anmer Hall, according to a source.
The three Cambridge children are said to grow flowers and vegetables in the outdoor patch at their Norfolk home, where they are self-isolating.
An insider told Fabulous: “Each child has their own patch of Anmer garden where they grow flowers and vegetables.
“They water it, weed it and photos are taken for Grandpa Charles and the Queen to peruse.”
The source said that George, six, and Charlotte, five, developed a love of being “green-fingered” after Kate Middleton, 38, showed her inaugural garden at the Chelsea Flower show last year.
The kids are said to have loved her Back to Nature garden so much they snuck in for secret visits before it opened to the public in the morning, and they also “helped The Duchess gather moss, leaves and twigs to help decorate” it.
The insider added: “They love helping grandfather Charles whenever they are down in Highgrove, although Louis has not been averse to try pulling out flowers instead of the rare sight of a weed!”
Last week, Kate joined families from East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (Each) to plant a garden at The Nook, near Norwich, and revealed her kids are having a sunflower competition.
While planting sunflowers with the children, she said Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are competing with each other to see who can grow the tallest sunflower.
Prince Louis is currently is in the lead leaving his siblings “grumpy”.
Kate said: “The children are really enjoying growing their sunflowers, Louis’s is winning so George is a little grumpy about that!”
The family relocated to the spacious, 10-bedroom country pad at the start of lockdown, and it offers the royal children plenty of space to run around.
A source previously told Fabulous: “George, Charlotte and Louis are now relishing their freedom in the spacious gardens of Anmer Hall.
“Climbing frames, a climbing wall and swings are a big part of the Cambridge outdoors activity scene, and Kate will do pond dipping and note-taking to log what they have spotted.
“Birdwatching with binoculars is another favourite of the kids.”
Anmer Hall was originally built in 1802 and was given as a lavish wedding present from the Queen to William and Kate after they tied the knot in 2011.
The family frequently escape to the country from their Kensington Palace home in London, to spend time together in the private gardens on the estate.
Kate has been known to whip out the camera to take snaps of her kids playing there, and many official portraits have been taken in the picturesque grounds.
This includes the recent heartwarming shot that was released on Mother’s Day, showing Will and Kate giving their eldest two children piggybacks in the Anmer Hall grounds.
No doubt Kate and Maria will be keeping the youngsters up-to-date with their studies, but the duchess will also be enforcing the importance of outdoor play.
Kate has said in the past: “I believe that spending time outdoors when we are young can play a role in laying the foundations for children to become happy, healthy adults.”
And she will likely be encouraging the kids to partake in one of their favourite outside activities; spider hunting.
