WHEN Prince William got down on one knee and popped the question to Kate Middleton in 2010, the Queen wasnt the first person notified.

In fact, the first people to learn of the happy news were actually the parents of one of Williams former flames.

Prince William had whisked Kate Middleton off for a romantic holiday in Kenya, and popped the question while they were staying in an off-grid, remote cabin along the shores of Lake Rutunda.

With the magnificent lake glistening nearby and not another soul to witness the magical moment,Katelikely felt that every year she had waited was worth it all for this. William had already arranged for a bottle of champagne to be put on ice at the cabin.

Before the romantic stay, the couple had been visiting Ian and Jane Craig, who were the parents of Williams former flame Jecca, at their Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya.

After getting engaged, William and Kate returned to the Craigs four-bedroom home.

Katie added: The Craigs had been the first to hear about the engagement when William and Kate returned to Lewa Downs, but William swore them to secrecy.

The royal author said William was keen to do the right thing in asking Kates dad Michael for her hand in marriage and did so on their return.

The Queen is said to have found out just before the news was announced to the world.

Prince William first met Jecca in 2000 while travelling around Kenya on his gap year.

Katie said: William apparently had a secret crush on Jecca since the first time he met her.

“She was beautiful, with long blonde hair, deep-blue eyes and legs like a gazelle.”

TheDuke of Cambridge flew out to Kenya to watch Jecca tie the knot in 2016– but Kate did not attend.

Kate and William got married in front of millions in April 2011, and now have three kids, Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, four, and one-year-old Prince Louis.
