THE Duchess of Cambridge has surprised snappers by giving their photos of life in lockdown her royal seal of approval in messages on Instagram.

They were part of the Hold Still 2020 project by the National Portrait Gallery and its patron Kate, 38, to record this unprecedented era. The messages, signed C for Catherine, also give insight into the life of keen photographer Kate. Here, we take a look.

The Duchess liked and said of Kate Ainger’s photo: ‘I love this!’

LAWYER and mum-of-three Kate Ainger shared this snap of a hair-erasing experience taken by four-year-old Coni on her phone.

Kate, from Cheltenham, Gloucs, explained: “We were getting serious with the dog clippers.”

Kate wrote: “I love this! What a budding photographer!”

PPE peek

Kate called this photo of frontline NHS staff a ‘great image’

SAFETY first as our frontline heroes, clad in PPE, gaze through a door at Lister Hospital.

Nurse Farrah Tanalgo, who is also a twin, shared this with the message: “Home for us, we for you. Save lives. Stay hopeful and grateful.”

Kate wrote: “Thank you for sharing this great image.”

Nurse nirvana

The Duchess of Cambridge said of this: ‘Thank you so much for sharing your story’

A WELL-earned break for this nurse is captured by Sapna Odlin from Reading.

Posting this shot of her caring neighbour Christine, she revealed: “She has a heart of solid gold . . . She leaves me hostas in my terrace. She also saves lives.”

Posy perfect

This picture of little girl in a dress with the colours of the NHS rainbow caught Kate’s eye

POSY-carrying Esme shows hue’s a perfect match with her bright striped frock echoing the colours of the NHS symbol.

Her mum, who calls herself EsmeandFlo on Instagram, captioned it “Rainbow of hope”.

Kate wrote: “Thank you so much for taking part in the Hold Still project!”

Blown away

The Duchess said this photo should urge us to ‘value the simple things’

ANNA Mehta’s young son blows a dandelion as the Yorkshire lass explains: “The tonic to what is happening in the outside world are our family walks (the teddies come on every walk).”

Kate wrote: “A perfect example of Hold Still . . . the chance to re-engage and value the simple things around us.”

Catherine branded this home-schooling photo ‘relatable’

A GOOD lesson from Jade Billington, whose snap of her daughter slumped over work while in home schooling was captioned: “Think she’s had enough of being at mummy school today.”

Kate wrote: “My children will very much relate to this! Thank you for taking part and sharing your story!”

Open your heart

Mum-of-three Kate seemed enthusiastic over this picture, writing: ‘Amazing image’

IT is watch and yearn for this woman cuddling a baby as, like so many people, they await a longed-for visit on the other side of this pane.

Amy Claire Nimmo shared the touching photo with the message: “Waiting for our window visit.”

Kate shared that she gets ‘so much joy from being outside and gardening too’

ZOE Norfolk, 51, puts pal Ben, 72, in the frame as he makes his twice-daily allotment trip.
