ROYAL fans are bewildered after a new video of Meghan Markle gave her title as the Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan and Prince Harry fled the UK for California earlier this year citing a desire to live less in the public eye – although they famously inked a megabucks deal with Netflix just months later.
As part of their departure – known as Megxit – Harry and Meghan struck a short-term deal with the Queen to give up their access to taxpayer money in exchange for abandoning their royal duties and living as private citizens.
However the did retain their royal titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex – something royal fans appear not to have realised.
In a video honouring those who’ve helped us cope during the pandemic, Meghan was introduced as the Duchess of Sussex, leaving many fans taking to Twitter to ask whether she really does still have her title, or whether it was a mistake by the caption editors.
Meghan may not keep her title forever, however, as a crunch meeting with the Queen is scheduled for March at which the monarch is expected to lay the longer term plans for Meghan and Harry, which could well see them stripped of their royal Duchy.
