THE photographer behind Meghan Markle and Prince Harrys wedding photos has given fans a sneak peek into what happens behind-the-scenes on a royal wedding.

British fashion photographer Alexi Lubomirski lifted the lid on how he had a strict no kissing rule when it came to the shots.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were not allowed to kiss in their wedding photos

Speaking to the Standard, Alexi said: There are definitely boundaries.

You cant have them kissing, you cant have them screaming and running through the garden and obviously you have to see the ring.

One of the famous shots Alexi snapped of the couple at their May 2018 wedding was one of the duke and duchess beaming as they reclined on some steps.

Alexi explained how the magical image had been executed and said he only had a three-minute window of the couple in which to get the shot.

British fashion photographer Alexi Lubomirski was tasked with capturing the couple on their special day

The Sussexes had just finished taking their official snaps in the green room at Frogmore House in Windsor, when he took them outside to the rose garden.

He said: The Palace official was looking at me saying were going to have to turn around soon and I was like OK, OK just sit down on these stairs. And they literally just sort of slumped down, laughing. Sort of looking at each other going oh my god, were married.

Alexis admitted he burst into tears when he looked back at the photos from the day and saw the stairs shot – partly out of relief but also as it was so beautiful.

Alexi also took this sweet engagement photo of the couple, with Meghan inside Harry’s jacket

Alexi was introduced to the royals through Meghans friend Markus Anderson, who is the Soho House director and helped arrange dates for the couple in their early stages of their relationship.

Meghan and Harry are said to have gone on his Instagram to see his portfolio and got in touch about working with him.

Harper’s Bazaar regular Alexi already had royal ties, having captured Prince William and Kate’s engagement shots.

When they met up, Alexi said the spark between the Sussex couple was immediately obvious.

Alexi said he took their official wedding portraits at a 45-degree angle to reflect their ‘modern’ nature

Alexi said he only had three minutes to capture photos of the couple on their wedding day in the rose garden at Frogmore Hall

He said: He would be talking and she would look at him, shed be smiling at what he said and then hed look at her and thered be this spark between them.

I get tingles just thinking about it. They were a young couple in love and it was so cute.

Alexi was given the task of taking their engagement photos at Frogmore House and recalls that his favourite shot featured Meghan looking at Harry wrapped in his coat.

He loved the fact they were so close physically and emotionally, and when the ring popped out of Harrys jacket he screamed and squealed.

When it came to the official royal wedding portraits with the family, he chose to shoot the image 45 degrees off centre.

The photographer said the couple were ‘relaxed’ on the big day

This was to reflect Meghan and Prince Harrys modern and authentic feel, and he wanted to avoid the image looking too stiff.

He said the couple were so natural and relaxed on camera and they managed to shoot six set ups of groups, like the groomsmen and parents of the couple, in just 25 minutes.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are currently on a six-week break from royal duties, and it has been reported they will not spend Christmas Day with the Queen at Sandringham.
