PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle are growing “increasingly concerned” the Invictus Games will be called off due to the coronavirus pandemic

The event is due to take place in May in Holland, but concerns are growing as a number of sporting events are called off over virus fears.

Harry is becoming increasingly concerned

Holland’s government have placed limits on large gatherings

This year’s games will be Harry’s first big solo event since Megxit

The dutch games are set to be Harry’s first big event since leaving the firm.

The event for wounded service personnel sees thousands of fans flock in from over 20 countries representing a massive risk with the highly contagious disease.

But The Netherlands currently has 804 confirmed cases and ten deaths.

A source revealed to Sun Online: “Plans for the event have basically ground to a halt and everyone is worried about what’s going to happen next.

“Harry has made it clear the safety of those taking part must come first.

“As each week passes it is looking less and less likely the event will be able to take part in the way Harry and his team had hoped.

“And there is still a very high chance it will have to be postponed completely and held at a later date.”

It comes as sporting events across Europe are scrapped, including Italy’s Serie A, all Champions League and Europa League matches, Wales versus Scotland and Masters golf called off.

Dutch governments have banned events with more than 100 visitors until March 31 – but with Europe currently in the midst of a coronavirus meltdown, it’s said plans for the games have been thrown under the bus.

On the Invictus Games website, a statement says: “The Board and Organising Committee of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020 continue to work closely with the Dutch authorities and the Invictus Games Foundation towards planning for a range of scenarios in the delivery of the next Invictus Games.

“There is also regular contact with the participating nations and their respective governments.

“Our collective priority is to limit any potential impact on the parties involved and, above all, protect the wellbeing and recovery of all international competitors, and their family and friends.”

A spokesperson from Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
