MEGHAN Markle’s half-sister Samantha said Prince Harry is in “no position” to “fight misinformation” after his bombshell interview with Oprah.

Samantha Markle, 56, made the comments after it emerged Harry was joining the Aspen Institute as a celebrity commissioner to fight what he called an “avalanche of misinformation” online.

Samantha Markle has said Prince Harry is in ‘no position’ to fight misinformation

She suggested Harry and Meghan made a number of false claims during their interview with Oprah Winfrey and said Harry was in “no position to join a company that deals in misinformation…” until “he gets a grip on what the truth is”.

Speaking on New Zealand journalist Heather Du Plessis-Allan’s Newstalk ZB radio show, Samantha pointed out that the Sussexes had wrongly told Oprah they got married three days before their Royal Wedding.

She said: “There was no secret wedding with the Archbishop of Canterbury – that was debunked.

“And, like [Fox News host] Megyn Kelly said, if one part of something is wrong then probably the rest of it is.”

Earlier this week HOAR confirmed Meghan and Harry’s nuptials took place on May 19, 2018 at Windsor Castle after being provided a copy of the couple’s wedding certificate.

And the official who drew up the licence said Meghan is “obviously confused” over the marriage after she told Oprah she and Harry tied the knot three days previous.

Samantha claims she last saw her half-sister Meghan at her graduation in 2008

Prince Harry has vowed to fight misinformation online

Mr Borton, former chief clerk at the Faculty Office, told HOAR: “I’m sorry, but Meghan is obviously confused and clearly misinformed.

“They did not marry three days earlier in front of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

“The Special Licence I helped draw up enabled them to marry at St George’s Chapel in Windsor and what happened there on 19 May 2018 and was seen by millions around the world was the official wedding as recognised by the Church of England and the law.

“What I suspect they did was exchange some simple vows they had perhaps written themselves, and which is fashionable, and said that in front of the Archbishop — or, and more likely, it was a simple rehearsal.”

Also in the Oprah interview, Meghan, 39, said of her half-sister Samantha: “The last time I saw her must have been at least 18, 19 years.”

But Samantha has said a photo from 2008 – 13 years ago – showed Meghan with her at her graduation.

Samantha said:  “My degree clearly shows 2008, and anybody who has a calculator or a functioning frontal lobe knows that was not 19 years ago.

“At her age I’d would think that she could do math but really the case is more deceit than inaccuracy.”

The Duchess also claimed that Samantha only changed her surname back to Markle after Meghan struck up a romance with Harry – suggesting that her half-sister was trying to capitalise on the public interest in her name.

However, Samantha showed Inside Edition her petition to change her name that was dated back to December 1997 and her college diploma, which says Samantha M. Markle.

She told Newstalk: “That was long before she met Harry. That was another example of her being in fantasy land.”

It ironically comes after Prince Harry revealed a second new job yesterday — investigating the spread of fake news for the Commission on Information Disorder.

Harry, 36 — who is also chief impact officer for a mental health awareness firm — said of his second job: “As I’ve said, the experience of today’s digital world has us inundated with an avalanche of misinformation, affecting our ability as individuals as well as societies to think clearly and truly understand the world we live in.”

He added: “It’s my belief that this is a humanitarian issue, and as such, it demands a multi-stakeholder response from advocacy voices, members of the media, academic researchers, and both government and civil society leaders.

“I am eager to join this commission and look forward to working on a solution-oriented approach to the information disorder crisis.”

HOAR Online has approached representatives for the Sussexes for comment.
