MEGHAN Markle’s on-screen Suits dad, Wendell Pierce, has revealed how he hopes the Duchess of Sussex was “prepared for the ugly side” before marrying Prince Harry.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain today, 55-year-old Wendell, who played Robert Zane on the US show, explained he told Meghan her life would be “very different”.

Wendell spoke about his TV daughter Meghan while appearing on Good Morning Britain today

Speaking to Susanna Reid and Adil Ray about Meghan‘s recent interview with Tom Bradby, for ITV’s documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, Wendell said he hopes Meghan knows “how much she is loved”.

“I remember the last moment I had with her, I told her: ‘Your life is going to be very different’,” he explained.

“In those tough times just remember you have a lot of people who care about you and that protocol… we’ll probably not be in touch with each other as much as you think but just know that you have a friend in me.

“So in those darkest hours I hope that she knows how much she is loved, I hope she knows how many people, millions of people, care for her.

“And you know I’m sure her mother raised her well, so prepared her for the ugly side of human nature.

“Any woman of colour would teach their child, just like my parents taught me, there are going to be some people out there who do not have your best interests at heart, but they are not the people you focus on, you focus away from them.

“I’m her TV dad!”

During the ITV documentary, Meghan opened up about how royal life has been a “struggle”, especially with being a new mum.

Presenter Tom Bradby followed the couple, and five-month-oldArchie, throughout their African tour which saw Prince Harry undertake solo engagements.

He can be seen talking to former actress Meghan about the toll royal life has taken on her.

She fights back tears, saying: “Look, any woman especially when they are pregnant youre really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging, and then when you have a newborn you know

“And especially as a woman, its a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mum or trying to be a newlywed its, well

“And, also thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if Im OK. But its a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”

Tom asks her directly if it is fair to say that it has been a struggle, and looking emotional, Meghan replies: “Yes.”
