MEETING the Queen is a big moment in many peoples lives, and comedian Michael McIntyre had a bit of a sticky moment when his encounter arrived.

Michael revealed that instead of calling Her Majesty maam, he got all tongue-tied and called her jam” instead.

To make matters worse, the Queen then ended their chat swiftly and move onto the next person.

Michael revealed he had met the monarch when he was invited along with some other celebrities to go to Buckingham Palace in 2011.

Speaking of the moment, the comic said: I got invited to meet the Queen and I kept looking at bank notes and getting excited and saying to myself see you later and pointing.

When I got to Buckingham Palace the doorman said when you address her it is maam like jam. All these famous people like Helen Mirren and Duffy are there mumbling maam like jam.

He said all the stars were waiting in a giant room that he said resembled an art gallery, and many people were feeling the nerves.

The Queen then entered with Prince Philip, and Michael prepared for the big moment.

He continued: Then she spoke to Duffy, came to me and I said Jam – and that was it, she moved along.

Everyone said to me why did you say jam. When I got home my wife asked what I talked to with the queen and I had to say jam.
