THE author of Finding Freedom has said he “doesn’t even know if the Sussexes like him” after he published a tell-all account of Megxit.
Omid Scobie, 38, co-authored the revealing book on why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to leave the firm – but now claims he is unsure what the royal couple think of him.
He has previously insisted Harry and Meghan did not co-operate with him and co-author Carolyn Durand on the explosive book.
But in Meghan’s ongoing High Court battle with Associated Newspapers, lawyers for the Mail on Sunday argued Finding Freedom “gives every appearance of having been written with their extensive co-operation”.
Scobie was also one of the few journalists invited to Meghan’s final event as a working royal.
He told Tatler: “(I don’t) even know if the Sussexes like me, to be honest.
“Press is press and there will always be that distance between the Sussexes and the press.
“I think the relationship with the tabloids is completely dead and I don’t see that ever working”
Omid Scobie’s Tatler interview also revealed:

When the book was published, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not interviewed and did not contribute to Finding Freedom.
“This book is based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps and their own independent reporting.”
But hinting at how close the author and the Duchess could be, Tatler also revealed that Meghan and Scobie shared “a big farewell hug’” in Buckingham Palace at her last event before quitting as a senior royal.
Scobie said: “I think she wanted to share that last moment because it is a moment in history.
“But also to do it in an environment she felt safe in.”
Scobie has previously said “[Meghan] would recognise me as probably a familiar face from the royal beat, but we are absolutely in no way friends.
“It’s really important to know that this is an unofficial biography and while we knew our subjects it’s important to have a little distance from them.
“We also spoke to people close to the Cambridges and the Prince of Wales and of course the Queen herself.
“The conversations that we have with the close friends and the aides and people in their lives are all done under the premise of doing this book.”
