PIERS Morgan sparked a furious Twitter spat with David Simon, the creator of The Wire, in light of his interview with Fox Nation presenter Tucker Carlson.

The broadcaster, 56, made his first TV appearance last night after he sensationally quit Good Morning Britain on March 9 in the wake of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Piers Morgan had a war of words with The Wire creator

Ahead of the interview, Piers took to Twitter to promote his appearance when Emmy-winner David Simon, 61, began a war of words.

David tweeted: “In an ocean of talking-head sewage, what are the chances that the two most pouty and puckered a**holes in broadcast television would ever swim through the brown, find each other, and discuss the events of the day?”

Not one to stay silent, Piers fired back at David’s claims by quoting his tweet and wrote: “Talking of sewage, Dave… you were all over me like a sycophantic chap rash when I interviewed you.

“Yet now you play the vicious horrible illiberal liberal to appease your vile woke base. All a bit s**t really.”

However, the pair’s Twitter feud continued to escalate as David blasted Piers as he recalled previously meeting him at an event.

David replied: “You met me once, on a stage at Cannes with Richard Plepler [and] Aaron Sorkin on a panel I attended at the request of HBO.

“1) Didn’t know you from a fart in high wind. 2) Was polite to said fart at Richard’s request as that man was a Medici to me. Now go lick some racist royalty.”

To which Piers responded: “Aaron was a class act. You…. not so much. Probably explains why The West Wing is so much better than The Wire.”

Piers’ first TV appearance following his GMB exit was with Tucker Carlson

Piers demanded Meghan Markle “names royals who rejected her requests for help

Piers and David’s online punch-up continued with The Wire writer poking fun at Piers’ exit from CNN while Piers branded him “a great writer but a repulsive human being”.

Life Stories host Piers then compared their Twitter following and went on to say he was “26 times” more popular than David.

Delivering one last verbal jab, David furiously branded Piers a “parasite” and penned: “Yes, popularity on this platform is truly indicative of worth and mettle.

“It’s a damn wonder you keep getting fired when actual journalism is required.

Piers Morgan’s comments come as:

  • He claimed Sheryl Underwood should have been fired from The Talk for canceling Sharon Osbourne
  • He slammed his ‘ex-friend’ Don Lemon after host branded him ‘racist’
  • He said GMB co-host Susanna Reid was ‘in the grip of fear’ that she would be forced off the show by the ‘woke mob’
  • He accused ex-coworker, weatherman Alex Beresford, of a ‘premeditated attack’

“Now go hack some poor girl’s cellphone and call that moral midgetry [a reference to the title of one of the show’s episode’s in season three] reporting, you empty parasite.”

Last night, Piers demanded Meghan Markle “names royals who rejected her requests for help after claiming she was suicidal.”

The former Good Morning Britain host promised before the interview that aired on Monday he would “go nuclear” in his “tell-all” to Fox Nation.

Piers came under fire for his comments about not believing Meghan’s claim she had been turned away from the Palace when she asked for help following suicidal thoughts.

Morgan said he “didn’t believe a word” she said during a broadcast the day after the interview aired.

Just six minutes into the hour-long bombshell interview, Carlson asked Morgan about Markle’s suicidal claims.

“You’re accusing two people in the palace of being unspeakably cruel simply to protect the brand of the Royal family, if that is true let’s have the names of these people and let’s go to them and ask them is this true,” Piers told Carlson.

“‘Did you tell a suicidal woman, who told you she was suicidal, not to get help?’ – because I find that impossible to believe.”

Markle made the comments about her mental health during an interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired last month.

The 39-year-old said she had been told she would not be able to seek help as it “wouldn’t be good for the institution.”
