PRINCE Andrew is convinced he’ll NEVER be grilled by the FBI over his friendships with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
Before he settled rape claims against him with an alleged £12 million payment to accuser Virginia Giuffre, the Duke of York had been under enormous pressure to speak with prosecutors about the friendships.
But despite accusing him of offering “zero cooperation”, investigators stopped pressing the issue and the file is said be left “gathering dust”, according to the Telegraph.
While his civil case may well have shone a fresh light on his friendships with the pair, the Duke is now said to be convinced his settlement will have no bearing on the stagnating FBI investigation, the paper said.
Royal aides earlier claimed the finances involved in the settlement would never be revealed and that Andrew would keep his titles of Duke of York, Queen’s Counsellor or State and Vice-Admiral.
But there are growing calls for these last remaining roles to be stripped from the disgraced Duke and formally remove the pomp and privileges that continue to surround him.
And there are also demands for the finances of his settlement to be made public, with serious questions raised over whether taxpayer money was used either directly or indirectly to have the rape claims dropped.
