MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry are set to make millions from their Instagram account after their social media popularity skyrocketed when they quit as royals.

The couple’s Instagram account gained a staggering 350,000 followers in the two days after their dramatic announcement they were quitting and moving to Canada.

Brand expert Ronn Torossian, CEO of PR firm 5W Public Relations, told the Sun Online that the boost in their social media standing could be instrumental in achieving their fortune, and they could rack up 190,000 per post.

He said: “This also continues to demonstrate that Meghan and Harry will have no problem becoming financially independent in fact, they will be more than fine.”

The spike came after the SussexRoyal account’s popularity languished over the New Year – barely amassing 14,000 followers in the week before they announced they were quitting on January 8.

Bu in between December 31 and January 29, their followers jumped up by 11.5 per cent.

According to a report compiled by Hype Auditor, their top post was their announcement they would be “carving out a progressive new role” in the Royal Family on January 8 with almost 1.9m likes.

The couple now have more than 11million followers, despite only following one account themselves.

Their account has even surpassed that of Prince William and Kate Middleton amid the Megxit drama.

The couple already appear to be hoping their SussexRoyal brand will turn into a money-making global empire worth millions.

Their website shows that “Sussex Royal” has applied to have its trade mark on printed matter, including teaching material, books, magazines, brochures, calendars, posters, postcards and artists’ material.

And in another section, their brand will cover “social care services, namely organising and conducting emotional support groups, counselling, mentoring and personal care services”.

The couple have agreed to pay back the 2.4million of taxpayer money spent on refurbishing Frogmore Cottage after revealing they wanted to live part-time in Canada and the UK.

And Mr Torossian said the couple’s popularity is a huge loss to the family.

He said: Given the recent media frenzy, it comes as no shock that Meghan and Harry have surpassed William and Kate in terms of social following.”

The SussexRoyal brand recently came under threat after a complaint was filed objecting to the Duke and Duchess’s Sussex Royal trademark application.

The application with the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) could have meant the royal couple face a legal battle over the trademark.

However, the IPO said last week that they had been informed the notice was being withdrawn, saying it had been claimed an imposter filed the claim.
