PRINCE Harry told hoaxers posing as climate change activist Greta Thunberg that “extreme” action must be taken to save the planet.

In an impassioned speech made to Russian pranksters pretending to be the teen campaigner, Harry insisted people needed to be “woken up” and shocked into real change.

Prince Harry told Russian pranksters pretending to be Greta Thunberg that ‘extreme’ action must be taken in order to save our ‘sick’ planet

Harry thought he was speaking to Greta and her father Svante on the phone

He was actually speaking to Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov — AKA Vovan and Lexus

And the 35-year-old Duke compared the climate crisis to a frog boiling slowly in hot water.

Thinking he was talking directly to crusader Greta and her father, he said: “The world is a troubled place and it can be very easy to give up and I think what you guys are doing is absolutely remarkable.

“Unfortunately the world is being led by some very sick people so the people like yourselves and younger generation are the ones that are going to make all the difference.

“The usual way things have been done over the last how many years has not had the effect that it needs to.

“I think people need to be woken up and the only way to wake people up from what effectively is a consciousness crisis is, I think, you need to be doing extreme things.

“And small steps or giving out prizes doesn’t make any difference these days.

‘BLOOD ON HIS HANDS’

“I think what you need to do is make real big changes that actually shock people, and it’s that shock factor that wakes people up.

“Because at the end of the day we are all the frog that has been put in cold water and brought to a boil without realising.”

Harry also insisted President Donald Trump had “blood on his hands” for ramping up coal production in the US.

He said: “I think the mere fact that Donald Trump is pushing the coal industry is so big in America, he has blood on his hands.

“Because the effect that has on the climate and the island nations far, far away, again out of sight out of mind.

“But we’ve visited those places and I’m sure you have as well. People’s lives have been completely destroyed.

“People are dying every single month by some form of natural disaster created from this huge change in our climate.

Harry insisted that people need to be ‘woken up’ as she chatted to the hoaxers, believing they were the teen climate change campaigner

Harry spoke to the notorious Russian pranksters twice on the landline at his luxury Canadian bolthole

“So I would love to see an international global law that prevents presidents from cutting down huge forests, the lungs of our earth, and stops them from going back in time to fuel and market that is long gone.

“Anything less than that, I don’t see how we can complete this in time before there is a total disaster. I’m a massive believer in anything is possible.

“And the more people say no to something, the more we should knuckle down and try and make it happen because, you know, if Donald Trump can become President of the United States of America, then anything’s possible, right?

“Something really drastic needs to happen.

“And I think there are some good leaders, political leaders around the world, and at the moment it’s severely unbalanced and in favour of bad leaders.

“And now I’m confident within the next five to ten years things will change, but we can’t wait five or ten years.”

He also urged “Greta” to meet PM Boris Johnson to push her case.

He said: “I think that probably you should add some pressure, and say if you are willing to make these changes in the United Kingdom, then you will end up having more money to spend on the NHS, for instance.

“It comes down to money, and where they can save money, the fact of the matter is you and I know, the more sick our world becomes, the sicker we become.

“And then the more expensive it is to deal with a world ticking over.”

‘NO ONE LIKES TO BE LECTURED’

The Prince also revealed he believes British politics is broken and voters were left with a poor choice between Boris and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

He said: “I think again, the fact that our choice was between those two individuals in my mind, I think, probably creates more of an observation that the system itself might be broken.

“So I don’t know, I think that there’s a lot that the leaders of today can learn and can listen to people like yourself.

“No one likes to be lectured. No one likes a hypocrite despite the fact that we probably are all hypocrites, apart from you, Greta.”

Speaking on the call, Harry urged Greta to meet with PM Boris Johnson to push her case

The Duke also commented on Donald Trump, saying the President has ‘blood on his hands’ for ramping up coal production

Harry also defended himself and wife Meghan, 38, after they were criticised by the media for using a private jet to go on holiday while lecturing the world about pollution.

And he insisted the couple fly less often than “most people”.

He said: “It’s amazing. We get accused by them for having to use a plane that was used simply to get away from them and not be followed for a family break. Unfortunately there is very few alternatives.

“We have to fly on commercial planes all over the world. Nowhere near as much as most people who do it for a night or weekends.

“We do official overseas visits to Commonwealth countries in support of my grandmother and we have to get there and have to fly, but it is by commercial flights, and occasionally we have to fly privately.

“Certainly for my family, to protect my family, from these people, as you can well understand.

“I have to put protections and safety of my family first and these people are never-ending.

“As I look out the window here, we’ve had boats with paparazzi taking photographs, trying to get photographs of us while we are far, far away in the middle of nowhere.

“So they always have a way of finding you. When possible, I will always try and find a means of getting somewhere without them knowing and following us.

LET’S MEET FACE TO FACE

During the course of the two phone calls, Harry repeatedly suggests meeting up with “Greta” when they are both in America.

He said: “I think there is certain things in this world that are inevitable and so much is down to timing.

“What I’ve learned over the years is that if you get the timing right, and the door is open and people at the right moment hear what you have to say, then it’s the right time to strike.

“However some things are just inevitable and you just have to accept that some things are going to be the way that they are.

“Having focused on the tourism industry to try to save our most valuable ecosystems around the world, I can fully appreciate that the tourism industry is going to — well, people travelling by plane is going to double in the next 20 years which is a terrifying prospect.

“I myself can’t change that. We can’t stop that from happening. That’s such an enormous trend that is predicted to happen.

“So the way that I look at that is, right, well, if that’s going to happen, and eco-aviation fuel is going to take so long to bring in, let’s focus on making sure that every single person that does travel is connected to the community on the ground and has a better understanding of how important these ecosystems are to our survival.”

Harry also urged “Greta” to never give up.

He said: “You have my support or our support in whatever it is you want to carry forward, and I would love to have a discussion, face to face.”

Harry spoke about his and Meghan’s move to Canada, saying the paparazzi ‘always have a way of finding you, even far away in the middle of nowhere’

And he defended their frequent flying, saying they fly ‘nowhere near as much as most people who do it for a night or weekends’
