ROYAL biographer Angela Levin has claimed Prince Harry told her he wanted to stop The Crown before it covered his life.

Appearing on BBC Breakfast, she told host Dan Walker that the Duke of Sussex vowed: “I’m going to make sure I stop it before they get to me.”

The revelation came as Prince Harry tonight jetted off to Canada to be reunited with Meghan and son Archie.

Harry left the UK after meeting Prime Minister Boris Johnson and world leaders at the UK-Africa Investment Summit in London, which is likely to be one of his few remaining official engagements before the Sussexes take a “leap of faith” and leave the monarchy in the spring.

Earlier today Angela, author of Harry: Conversations with the Prince, claimed Harry wanted to stop the popular Netflix series before it reached his life.

She said: “When I went to interview Harry at the palace, the first thing he said to me when he shook my hand was ‘are you watching The Crown?’

“And I had been at the time and I felt very embarrassed.

“I got up and he said ‘I’m going to make sure I stop it before they get to me’”.

Royal fans have said they are desperate to Harry and Meghan on The Crown – following their bombshell decision to step back from royal life.

They even joked how Meghan might play herself in the drama.

However The Crown producer dashed fans’ hopes for episodes featuring Harry and Meghan.

Suzanne Mackie, executive producer on the show, said it’s unlikely it will ever cover today’s big news involving the royals.

She said: “To be honest, whatever the life of The Crown is after where we are now, I doubt we’ll ever go as far into the present day.

“I think we’ll probably – we won’t travel into the present day.”

The Netflix show portrays the life of the royal family from the time when the Queen was crowned. The current series takes place between 1964 and 1977, while the next series will go into the 1980s.

Mackie also admitted Prince Andrew’s disastrous interview with Newsnight host Emily Maitlis “resonated” with The Crown’s creative team.

However she admitted it was unlikely the show would dramatise his car-crash appearance on the BBC programme.

The Crown creator, Peter Morgan, echoed her view back in 2018 when he told Entertainment Weekly the show wouldn’t include Meghan Markle, “because it’s too close to the moment.”

“I feel uncomfortable writing about events within a certain time period,” he said.

Mr Morgan also previously told The Guardian he has meetings with representatives of the Royal Family four times a year to tell them what he’s writing in the show.

Cast and crew are currently midway through filming for season four of The Crown, which will see the introduction of The X-Files actress Gillian Anderson playing former prime minister Margaret Thatcher and rising star Emma Corrin as Diana, Princess of Wales.

It also features Tobias Menzies as the Duke of Edinburgh and Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret.

Late last year it was widely reported Imelda Staunton would take over from Olivia Colman as the Queen in later series of The Crown.

Meanwhile a Netflix executive yesterday revealed the streaming giant is interested in working with Harry and Meghan after they stepped down from royal duties.

Questioned about the possibility of a production tie-up, Ted Sarandos, the company’s chief content officer, told an event in Los Angeles: “Who wouldn’t be interested? Yes, sure.”

A video also emerged of Meghan joking that she and Harry had attended the premiere of The Lion King in London to “pitch” for work. Months later she was hired by Disney to work on a project in exchange for a donation to the charity Elephants Without Borders.

A previous video showed the duke touting his wife’s voiceover skills to the Disney boss Bob Iger at the event in July.
