WE can hardly believe it’s been 10 whole YEARS since Kate Middleton married into the Royal Family in a fairytale ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

In the run-up to the big day, we were desperate to know all the details of Duchess of Cambridge‘s stunning Alexander McQueen dress.

Prince William admitted that he clashed with his grandmother over his outfit for the day

But it turns out, Prince William‘s outfit was the one that actually caused quite a stir in the Palace.

A year after he tied the knot, the Duke of Cambridge admitted during an interview with ABC that he’d clashed with The Queen over what he wore on his wedding day.

He said: “What I really wanted to wear was the Irish Guards frock coat.

“We had a couple of discussions on this matter but, as I learnt growing up, you don’t mess with your grandmother.

“What she says goes!”

In February 2011 (two months before the wedding), Prince William was appointed Colonel of the Irish Guards.

However, The Queen was adamant that her grandson should wear his red tunic – otherwise known as their “Home Service Dress” – for the wedding over his new black coat.

Although Her Majesty put her put down on this issue, she did push William to take a stand on the issue of the enormous guest list.

The dad-of-three admitted that the first draft included 777 names of people he didn’t know.

He said: “It was a bit daunting and it was like, that seems to be the guest list sorted – no room for friends or family.

“I wasn’t too happy about it so I rang [the Queen] for a bit of moral support and a bit of backup.

“She said, ‘don’t be so ridiculous, get rid of the list, and start from your friends’.”

In more Royal Family news, this was the rare moment Kate Middleton ‘rolled her eyes’ & lost composure after she was scolded at royal event.

And William used to smother Harry in kisses as a young boy and showed him off proudly like his ‘favourite toy’.
