Princess Diana ‘remained a little in love with Prince Charles’ even after their divorce, Petronella Wyatt has claimed

Writing forĀ HOAR, Petronella explained how she attended the same small dinner party as Diana in the summer of 1995 and met her again at The Ritz the following year.

Describing how she “laughed a lot” and looked “radiant”, Petronella said Diana and Charles were in a good place after their divorce was finalised in 1996.

She wrote: “I sat next to Diana and she spoke a great deal of her new-found friendship with Prince Charles. That made her very happy.

“But I always thought, and so did friends of both her and Charles, that she remained a little in love with him.”

The couple divorced in 1996 after 15 years of marriage

What’s more, Petronella says Diana told her at the dinner party the year before that she found dating a struggle.

“Most decent men are put off by me,” Diana told her. “You know, my situation and all the baggage that goes with it.”

When asked if she would ever tie the knot again, Petronella says Diana burst out laughing.

“No way. But I would like to redo some things,” she said, before turning the conversation back to Petronella.

During that same evening, Diana confided in Petronella about her worries about being a good mother to her sons William and Harry.
