Meghan Markle could launch her own NEWSPAPER as she trademarks 100 items under Sussex Royal

Media-savvy Meghan Markle could launch her own newspaper or magazine after her and Prince Harry trademarked 100 items under the “Sussex Royal” name.

The couple have applied to have their royal trademark stamped on scores of items and services (including clothing, footwear and printed material), according to the Intellectual Property Office.

The couple are spending the Christmas period in Canada with their son Archie

Sussex Royal has also put its trade mark on “health and wellness training, education and training relating to nature, conservation and the environment, organising youth training schemes and training sports coaches”.

And in another section, their brand will cover “social care services, namely organising and conducting emotional support groups, counselling, mentoring and personal care services”.

By protecting their trade mark, the royals will be able to take action if anyone tries to use their names on unapproved products or services, or tries to use them on counterfeit items.

Meghan Markles friend gets special recognition from The Queen in New Years Honours list

Meghan Markle’s friend has received a special recognition from The Queen in her New Year’s Honours list.

Clara Loughran – who is Senior Programme Coordinator to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and was involved in the couple’s wedding – has been made a Member of the Victorian Order by The Queen.

This special recognition – which was included inThe Queen‘s annualNew Years honours– is reserved for people who have served Her Majesty or a member of theRoyal Family.

Kate Middleton was made a Dame Grand Cross of the Victorian Order in July this year

In July, The Queen made Kate Middleton a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, which is the highest rank equivalent of a Knight.

The Dame Grand Cross was founded in April 1896 by Queen Victoria as a way of rewarding services to the monarchy and the Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne and the Countess of Wessex all hold this esteemed honour.

Grease star Olivia Newton-John is to be made a Dame in a New Year Honours list packed with names from the world of entertainment.

The singer, 71, gets the gong for services to charity, cancer research and entertainment.

Meanwhile,Sir Elton John, 72, will have his knighthood upgraded to a Companion of Honour becoming one of only 65 living recipients of the award.

There are also awards for several TV cooks. Nigel Slater, 61, will become an OBE, while Ainsley Harriott, 62, andBake Off winner Nadiya Hussain, 35, are both made MBEs for services to broadcasting and the culinary arts.

In total, 1,097 people will receive honours, the Cabinet Office said, with 50.7 per cent going to women the second highest for a New Year Honours list, after 51 per cent in 2014.
