KHALOOSY looked a potential superstar when winning the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot and has valid excuses when third at Glorious Goodwood last time.
There was plenty of give in the ground when blowing away his rivals at the Queen’s course and it looked far too quick for Roger Varian’s colt in the Thoroughbred Stakes. Even then he travelled like a good’un but just didn’t enjoy the surface when push came to shove. It will be nice and juicy underfoot for him today.
That really goes against Dark Vision who didn’t enjoy the tacky surface when well beaten at York. His Royal Hunt Cup win was a quality effort but conditions were very different.
That makes Qaysar the main threat given his excellent record at Haydock especially in the mud. He won a decent handicap on his last visit in July and was asked to make up far too much ground at York 16 days ago. He steps out of handicap company with valid claims.
My Oberon was ahead of the tip at Goodwood when unlucky not to win. There’s more to come after three starts.

FAVORITE MOON won over course and distance two runs ago when testing ground was right up his alley. He powered home there so it was a surprise to see him struggle in the red-hot Melrose Handicap at York.
It’s telling that William Haggas has fitted him with a tongue tie and it’s still early days so he can bounce back in this small field.
Stablemate Midrarr has much more to offer after winning easily at Chester last time. She makes her handicap debut from a fair mark and shapes as though this step up in distance will help.
Arthurian Fable was second in the Melrose and a 4lb rise in the weights looks more than fair. He’s a proven stayer who handles some cut in the ground and he’ll be right there again.
Al Dabaran won a Listed contest last season and has been performing well enough in Group contests this term. He was less than four lengths away in the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket after a decent run in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot. He likes it soft and, despite his hefty weight, is another with every chance in a trappy contest.

DARK JEDI clocked a big personal best when upped to 1m4f for the first time at York.
He travelled well and it took a really good performance from megabucks buy Alfaatik trained by John Gosden to beat him by less than a length. This four-year-old has improved since joining Tim Easterby and he can show more for this greater test of stamina again.
Rhythmic Intent had plenty in hand when winning at Newbury last time where the soft ground suited perfectly. He’s up 6lb for that but has been consistent all season and could take another step forward.
Cape Coast has done really well since returning from three years off with a Thirsk second followed by a gutsy Newmarket success. He saw out every yard of this trip on the July Course and has no issue with these conditions.
Future Investment saw out two miles to win at Chester 16 days ago and will relish this slog. He’s up the weights but has more to offer in marathons.
Glencadam Glory nearly nicked the Ebor from the front and did very well to keep going for second. He’s up just 5lb for that which gives him strong claims.

ART POWER can keep up the excellent record of three-year-olds in this red-hot contest. The Classic generation have won five of the past six runnings and Tim Easterby’s flyer will be much happier back over this trip.
He found things happening a bit quick over the minimum in the Nunthorpe at York after impressive wins at Royal Ascot and Naas. He loves cut in the ground and is on the upgrade.
Conditions could make this feel like a seven-furlong race which is good for Dream Of Dreams who relished that trip when taking the Hungerford Stakes at Newbury.
Oisin Murphy snubs old pal The Tin Man — who has place claims in a race he’s won before — to stay on board and they won’t be far away.
Hello Youmzain won this cosily last season and took another Group 1 in Royal Ascot’s Diamond Jubilee Stakes. He went close at Deauville last time and should hit the podium.
Golden Horde won the Commonwealth Cup before a good third in the July Cup at Newmarket. He didn’t get home over an extra half-furlong behind Hello Youmzain in France and will be happier today.
Lope Y Fernandez was third in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and has shown promise over shorter since. He drops in trip again here and goes on soft.
ASCOT

KIPPS was asked to make up a ridiculous amount of ground by Ryan Moore in the Melrose Stakes at York and did really well to take third.
He’s run well on all four starts this season and keeps hitting the frame in these red-hot contests. His last effort over this course and distance saw him finish second in the King George V Handicap at the Royal meeting and he’ll be right there again with the first-time cheekpieces maybe just giving him the nudge he needs.
My Frankel has done little wrong this season in winning a couple of minor races and deserves this hike in grade for his handicap debut. This trip should be ideal and there’s a lot more to come from Sir Michael Stoute’s hopeful.
Grand Bazaar is consistent and followed two wins with a close second here last time. A 3lb rise in the weights looks fair enough. Shandoz beat him here last time and is another who looks capable of better.
Al Qaqaa pulled away his chances in the early stages at Goodwood and sports cheekpieces today which could help him settle. He looked a nice prospect when winning a novice contest at Newmarket and cost more than a million quid which means a mark of 88 could underestimate him.

SPANISH CITY did really well to finish third in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot and drops back to that trip for the first time since. He’s effectively 5lb lower in the weights thanks to his rider’s claim and should be right in the mix.
May Sonic was impressive when clocking a fast time at Kempton last month. His rivals couldn’t land a blow and he’ll be a threat if repeating that back on turf.
Jonah Jones ran well over five furlongs here three starts ago and matched that at York. He goes on any ground and will throw down a late challenge.
Indian Creak looked progressive when winning at Windsor and looks ahead of the handicapper, while Kimifive didn’t get the run of the race in the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon after going down in a photo for the Stewards’ Cup at Glorious Goodwood. That’s clearly smart form.

BLUE MIST was so impressive when winning the International Stakes over course and distance last time. He travelled like a Group horse and left his 18 rivals behind in the final furlong. He’s up 6lb for that but that shouldn’t make a lot of difference and he’s the one to beat.
Willie John has an each-way shout at decent odds. He improved for being gelded when fourth in the Summer Mile at Goodwood. His stamina failed him there after tanking along and this drop in trip could be a wise move.
Via Serendipity won with masses in hand over the round mile here latest and would be a big threat if repeating that effort on the straight course with Hayley Turner staying on board.
Society Lion is progressing well and didn’t get the clearest of runs at Chelmsford last time after winning well at Goodwood. He has more to come for Sir Michael Stoute.
Revich has been in cracking form at Chester with back-to-back wins. He’s shooting up the weights but this trip is ideal and his capable claimer takes off 5lb.

MYSTERY SMILES ran really well to finish third in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York last time. He stayed on nicely and has plenty to build on for trainer Andrew Balding.
Nomadic Empire is another who ran a cracker on the Knavesmire latest when beaten in a head-bobber over five furlongs. He shapes as though this longer distance will be a plus.
Cloudbridge pulled like a train in the early stages of a Group 3 last time after being sent off a short-priced favourite. He earlier impressed when scoring on debut at Leicester and will hopefully settle better in today’s first-time hood.
Hala Hala Hala didn’t go a yard last time after going close in the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot. That was a strong run and she’s clearly capable of better. This all-weather surface may suit well too.

Sit back and watch ENABLE complete what should be a lap of honour on the final UK start of her incredible career. She has won all there is to win in the sport, including this race back in 2018 so there are no fears about trip or track.
Frankie’s favourite stormed back to her best when winning yet another Group 1 at Ascot last time and can take this on the way to another crack at the Arc.
The betting interest is in what finishes second and quirky Fox Tal could take those honours. You can’t be sure what you will get with him but he was far from disgraced in this Group 3 class at Haydock last time and there’s every chance he’ll get home on this first crack over 1m4f.
Prince Of Arran is going the other way trip wise after a modest run in the Ascot Gold Cup latest. He has a couple of placings in the Melbourne Cup to his name so has plenty of quality and will be running on strongly.
