THE Queen’s Christmas address will try to “raise morale” and “evoke war-time spirit”, says a royal expert.
It was reported that Her Majesty, 94, had delayed recording her Christmas speech until after the Government’s Brexit D-Day last week.
The monarch is said to have started writing a “personal and emotional” address but has yet to finish it.
Royal commentator Phil Dampier told Fabulous: “It will be a very, very important Christmas speech this year, very much along the lines of her earlier broadcast, the ‘we’ll meet again one’.
“Trying to raise morale and encourage people to get through it and evoke a bit of war-time spirit.
“So I’m sure the Christmas address will be along similar lines.”
It has been announced that the Queen will “celebrate Christmas quietly” with husband Prince Philip, 99, at Windsor Castle, and will not head to Sandringham as is her usual tradition.
Royal expert Phil said that it is likely the Queen will film the festive address at Windsor Castle.
He added: “She may have already done it, that is possible, but she might not have done it.
“She might have left it quite late as the situation keeps changing.”
A source said: “Normally she films it in early December, certainly by the middle of the month, but this time it’s later than usual.
“There’s talk it could happen on Wednesday or Thursday.
“The country could be a very different place by then with us possibly leaving the EU without a deal.”
Sources say the Queen will speak about how the Covid pandemic has kept families apart but there will also be optimism for next year.
Her son Prince Charles and grandson William both caught the virus.
Almost eight million saw her festive address last year, but that rocketed to 24 million watching her lockdown speech in April.
Buckingham Palace was contacted for comment.
However, an insider said of the speech: “It’s really emotional and personal and written by the Queen herself. They are expecting record viewing figures. A lot more people will be at home tuning in.”
