A SERVANT stole two medals from Buckingham Palace and other items worth £100,000 and flogged many of them on eBay.
Catering assistant Adamo Canto, 37, nicked gongs for a Companion Of The Order Of The Bath and a Commander Of The Royal Victorian Order while cleaning to prevent Covid.
Head of the household Sir Anthony Johnstone-Burt learned his Order Of The Bath medal was up for sale for £500 on eBay. It went for £350.
Canto also admitted stealing other items including signed photos of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge and a photo album of the Royal State Banquet during US President Donald Trump’s state visit, which he sold for £1,500 on eBay.
His loot made £7,741 on eBay and 77 Palace shop gifts were recovered.
The Items were stolen between from the Royal Household and the Royal Shop at Buckingham Palace between November 11 last year and August 7 when Canto was snared.
Former catering assistant Canto, who had worked at the Palace for five years, was given additional cleaning duties during Covid-19 lockdown and used them to steal from locker rooms.
Not all of the stolen items have been recovered, Westminster Magistrates Court was told yesterday.
Canto, of Scarborough, Yorks, was bailed by Westminster JPs to be sentenced at Southwark crown court. He faces jail.
