CORONATION Street and Brookside star Alan Igbon’s niece has paid tribute to the 68-year-old after he “passed away peacefully”.
He started acting when he was a teenager and went on to star in The Black Stuff, The Professionals, G.B.H., Doctors and Pet, as well as films including Scum, Babylon and Water.
His soap star role on Corrie was as the estranged father of Ryan Thomas’ character Jason Grimshaw.
Lee-Ann Igbon wrote on Facebook: “Early December 2020 my mums brother Alan Igbon my uncle passed away peaceful.
“He is well known for being an actor in Boys from the black stuff, Scum, GBH, Coronation st, Brookside and many more. R.i.e.p xxx.”
His former co-star Louis Emerick also wrote kind words about the star following the news.
Louis said: “Another sad loss, #AlanAdjIgbon..Riep Adj. Boys from the blackstuff,Scum,Gbh,Brooky, Corrie,Adj graced them all.
“A very underrated actor,Adj was an inspiration to me,he and @PaulBarberActor made me realise ‘yes it can be done’. Goodbye Adj, never forgotten.”
