CORONATION Street viewers are convinced Gary Windass will die on the show’s 60th anniversary next year, with Kate Connor returning to get revenge for Rana’s death.
The long-running soap first aired on December 9, 1960, and fans think a dramatic early December would pave the way for even more explosive scenes over Christmas.

Discussing future storylines in a soap forum, one wrote: “Gary getting killed for the 60th would be better than Christmas. Leading to several characters having a uneasy Christmas.”
Another said: “I’m going to wind you all up by suggesting Kate Connor should make a brief return to kill Gary ala Anna Windass/Phelan style.
“He took the most from her by killing Rana, even inadvertently, and wrecked her life, she left the street with no idea what he did so a cameo in 2020 to get rid of this awful villain would at least make the ending to the s/l decent.”
A third suggested Gary’s mum Anna will return to read him the riot act as his character continues to slide into ever murkier depths.

They posted: “I can see the likes of Anna Windass and Jim McDonald making returns, given that key characters they’re connected with will be leaving- in Jim’s case- and fairly prominent on the storyline front- Anna potentially returning as something goes horribly wrong for Gary?”

Speaking to Metro, he said: “Ive always said that Id rather go in a blaze of glory as it were, leaving bodies behind, so Im happy either way.”
“If this does become Garys last hurrah, which I hope it doesnt, then its a great story to be involved with. I think as time goes on with this story in to next year, I think hes become more calculated, because hes had to. Theres going to be a more calculated side to Gary coming out over the next sort of 12-18 months.”
