CORONATION Street fans are devastated as Daniel Osbourne spends Valentine’s Day with Bethany Platt just months after wife Sinead died of cancer.
The pair have been circling each other but keep backing out in respect of Sinead’s memory.
However Beth Tinker – Sinead’s aunt – is furious about their relationship and confronted them in the cafe.
She said to them: “If you’d given it a year I might have looked the other way. It’s been four months. But then again, you’ve been sniffing around each other since before she was dead.”
Daniel replied: “Neither of us have intended this to happen. Sinead said she wanted me to be happy.”
Beth snapped back: “Ohh, so you’re doing this for her? Oh that was her dying wish was it? That you jump into bed as quickly as possible? Oh grow up. That lad’s never going to see his mum again and you’re worried about being happy.”
Bethany, looking sheepish, said: “I’m sorry.”
Beth got into Bethany’s face and told her: “If you were sorry, you wouldn’t be doing it.”
After the confrontation, Daniel told Bethany that they should probably leave each other alone for a bit, which obviously hurt her.
She went to talk to her mum Sarah while Adam Barlow – who is engaged to Sarah – went to help Daniel.
Adam told Daniel to do what he needs to do to be happy, so he decides to make a grand statement.
Daniel runs into the pub to Bethany, saying: “I’ve been stupid. I’ve let other people dictate to me how I should live my life.” They share a big kiss, then he tells the pub: “There, everybody get an eyeful? You can see we are more than just good mates. Get back to your gossiping, fill your boots. We don’t need to hide away anymore. We’ve got nothing to be ashamed of.”
Fans were not happy about this new relationship – with many taking Beth Tinker’s side in the argument.
