And later, she sobs as she tells Dr Ali: “I lost a baby before you know, 12 years ago. I was 30 weeks pregnant and his heart just stopped beating.

“And I had to give birth to him knowing he was dead. I didn’t want him to come out because then… then in the end I remember feeling relieved that the pain was over but it wasn’t. I still think about him sometimes.

“Not all the time but sometimes I’ll just be doing something really normal and it will just pop into my head. I want my baby Ali.”

Corrie star Samia and Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel, have spoken out about the tragic storyline and its devastating consequences on their characters.

Speaking about the storyline, Rob who plays Daniel added: “Daniel immediately feels guilt and then fear, because it doesn’t occur to him that it has gone beyond Bertie to begin with.

“He thinks that getting Bertie’s jabs would have been something that Sinead would have been able to do without flinching, so he is ashamed of that failure. He doesn’t realise the wider implications at all.”
