CORONATION Street fans called out a “schoolboy error” in the soap’s recent plotline which saw Chesney Brown say goodbye to his son.

The busy dad bid farewell to eldest Joseph, who he shared with now-deceased Katy Armstrong, as the youngster prepared for a life in Portugal with his gran.

It came as the schoolboy prepared to leave Weatherfield for a life in Portugal

The schoolboy has felt unloved because his dad Chesney has been busy looking after the rest of his brood – quadruplets Alex, Bryn, Carys and Lilo.

In the ITV soap’s hour-long episode, while the family was making plans to stay in contact for when the schoolboy arrived in sunnier climes, Bernie told Joseph his uncle Paul would contact him at “7pm your time.”

Travel-loving Coronation Street viewers were quick to flag this turn of phrase was not accurate, as Portugal shares the same time zone as the UK.

One took to Twitter to muse: “Someone needs to tell the writers of @itvcorrie that Portugal is the same time zone at the UK #Chesney #Joseph #corrie #coronationstreet.”

Another posted: “Schoolboy error on #Corrie there. Portugal are on the same time as us so Paul phoning tomorrow at 7pm will be the same.

“Hope he doesn’t get confused. 🤦🏼‍♂️

A third commented: “‘Your time?’ Portugal is on the same time zone as the UK. #corrie,” as a fourth reinforced the message: “‘7 o’clock your time.’ Portugal is in the same time zone as UK. #Corrie.”

One then surmised: “Portugal is the same time zone as the UK is it not #corrie 🤔.”

SAD PARTING

Amid the drama of the time difference, fans feared Chesney and partner Gemma were making a huge mistake letting Joseph go.

The dad-of-five told the young lad that he was happy with him moving to Portugal with granny Linda.

But little did he know that Joseph was absolutely heartbroken.

Later on Chesney met up with Linda to tell her that she can take Joseph back to the holiday hot spot for a better life.

Linda then revealed that she has to fly back as soon as possible because of a family emergency.

Chesney and Gemma fought back the tears when Joseph agreed to go with his grandma and they wave goodbye to the pair outside Number 5.

Later on Hope threw a spanner in the works when she told the couple the truth.

The school girl told Chesney and Gemma that Joseph said he never wanted to go to Portugal.

Chesney’s heart began to sink and he realised the damage he had done.

Joseph’s family told him they would call at ‘7pm your time’ – but Portugal is on the same time zone as the UK
