CORONATION Street fans were stunned tonight as Sinead Tinker returned to Weatherfield.

The machinist – who was played by actress Katie McGlynn in the ITV soap – died last year of cervical cancer after a long battle.

Daniel avoids telling Gary about the measles

But in tonights episode Daniel had a vision of his late wife in the flat – and mistook Bethany Platt for her.

Daniel and Bethany had been caught in a downpour after he was attacked by Gary Windass for inadvertently causing Maria Connor to have a miscarriage.

Soaking wet the pair ran inside and Bethany went to have a shower while Daniel looked after Bertie.

He gave her one of Sineads robes to wear while her clothes were drying and he fell asleep on the sofa.

A waking Daniel mistakes Bethany for Sinead

And when he woke up to the sound of Bethany singing he didnt hear or see Bethany – he saw Sinead – played by Katie once more.

The scene had fans stunned at what they saw.

One wrote: Is Bethany dressed in Sineads dressing gown? he just wants Sinead..”

A second said: So me thinks Daniel only wants Bethany to stay because she reminds him of Sinead…..
hallucination kicking in he thinks she is actually her.”

Another added: Daniel and Bethany seem like a bad idea especially since Sinead just died.”

A fourth tweeted: Why does Bethany keep going round there and putting Sineads clothes on? Bit weird.”

They spend the night together

And HOAR Online can reveal that National Television Award winning best actress Katie McGlynn made a secret return to the cobbles to film the special scene.

She snuck into the studios without anyone

A Coronation Street spokeswoman told the Sun Online: We were delighted that Katie returned to the film the scene.

It gave them extra authenticity and made it a much more powerful scene in the same way that Bhavna did when she returned as Rana for Carlas psychosis episode.
