CORONATION Street’s Alya Nazir challenges Geoff in an explosive showdown after she realises he’s been writing Speed Daal’s negative online reviews HIMSELF in order to bully Yasmeen.
The grandmother – played by actress Shelley King on the ITV soap – is embroiled in a long-running coercive control storyline that has seen her become a shell of her former self.
Former bistro manager Alya has always had her suspicions when it comes to her grandmother’s partner Geoff and was horrified when they returned from Vegas married last year in Corrie.
Her suspicions were piqued when Geoff spread that Yasmeen was an alcoholic – which Alya knew was a load of rubbish – in order to cover his abuse.
Last week things came to a head when Gail overheard Yasmeen crying in the garden and reported what she’d witnessed to Alya and Ryan.
In an upcoming episode, when Alya spots the spelling mistake in Geoff’s new menus is identical to one made in the negative reviews online, it finally dawns on her that he’s been writing them himself.
Meanwhile, Yasmeen is sick of being cooped up in the house and begs Geoff to let her return to work.
But Geoff insists she stays at home and cooks for him instead.
But their lunch is interrupted when a furious Yasmeen bursts in and challenges Geoff for writing the reviews.
Alya is silence when Yasmeen sides with Geoff and insists he’d never do anything to hurt the business.
Geoff tells Alya they can no longer work together and suggests she sell her share of the business to him and Yasmeen.
But Alya tells him to stick his suggestion.
Geoff then tells Yasmeen that he’s going to see a business advisor to find out where they stand.
Meanwhile, Alya digs around and finds numerous cash withdrawals from the Speed Daal accounts.
Geoff lies to Yasmeen that she deserves a better life abroad but when Yasmeen isn’t so keen, he manipulates her into agreeing by saying she must be having doubts about their marriage.
In the Rovers, Alya shares her concerns with Ryan and Eileen.
Everything finally falls into place for Alya when Eileen reveals that Geoff locked his wife in his magic box for hours – and she realises that Yasmeen is being abused.
But the granddaughter is torn over what to do given the extent of Geoff’s manipulation and Yasmeen’s denial.
HOAR Online exclusively revealed last month that Alya is going to do more digging into Geoff’s background and discover some incriminating evidence.
She then sets about trying to save her grandmother and begs her to leave the abuser.
