LEANNE Batterbsy rushes to Steve’s house at the crack of dawn in her pyjamas next week in Coronation Street – after Oliver spends the night there.
The secretary – who is played by Jane Danson in the ITV soap – is struggling to cope with her grief in the wake of Oliver’s deadly diagnosis.
Corrie viewers watched Leanne’s world come crashing down this week when Oliver was finally diagnosed with mitochondrial disease after undergoing weeks of tests.
Fans know that Leanne has been in denial ever since doctors warned that her son could have the deadly disease weeks ago – and has been insisting that everything will be fine.
And when the consultant revealed Oliver’s official diagnosis last night, Leanne refused to believe the news and insisted on a second opinion.
Episodes set to air later this week will see the news start to sink in for Leanne as she tells Steve she’ll have nothing left when Oliver dies.
Next week’s episodes of Corrie will see Leanne unravel further and start wandering around in her pyjamas at the crack of dawn.
When she heads to Steve’s house to find Oliver where he’s staying the night, a worried Nick follows her and brings her home.
Later, Dr Gaddas suggests that Leanne should consider counselling or medication to help her cope, but a distraught Leanne insists she’s fine.
Later, Leanne lashes out at her sister Toyah when she comes round, insisting she has no idea how she’s feeling.
Imran and Nick urge Leanne not to take things out on Toyah and Nick suggests they go to a support group for parents of terminally ill children.
How will Leanne react?
Later in the week, Leanne apologises to Toyah for taking her frustration out on her.
Toyah then asks her friend Josie to come over and explains that Josie runs the support group Nick suggested.
Leanne is apprehensive initially but as Josie tells her story, Leanne finds herself taking comfort from hearing someone else’s experience of grief.
