KNOWN as Rita Tanner’s foster daughter on screens, Tracie Bennett hasn’t been seen in the cobbles since 2021.

The Coronation Street actress gave her Twitter followers a fright when she shared a snap of a recent black eye.

But she recently raised concerns on Twitter

Tracie is best-known to have portrayed Sharon Bentley, Rita’s foster daughter

Tracie Bennett has been keeping a low profile since her Corrie alter ego, Sharon Bentley, stepped away from Weatherfield in a hurry in June, 2021.

ITV viewers may remember she was exposed by Rita’s other former foster daughter Jenny Connor for trying to seek out Leanne Battersby on behalf of her drug-dealing nephew, Harvey Gaskell.

While her character vanished, Tracie Bennett has remained reasonably active on social media, particularly Twitter where she shows snippets of her day-to-day life.

But on Sunday (June 26, 2022), the 61-year-old shared a close-up of a recent black eye and her Twitter followers have been concerned for her well-being.

COME TO CORRIE

The photo only shows Tracie’s right eye considerably bruised.

“Shall I even bother to put makeup on? It’ll get worse before it gets better”, she captioned.

Fans of the Corrie star were quick to comment on the shot.

“Oh no! That looks so painful!”, one of them penned as another added: “Oh jeez. What the…happened ? Hugs to you.”

“Oh bless you. I hope it’s all better and healed super quick”, a third chimed in.

“That looks so sore. Hope you feel better soon”, another follower commented.

One preoccupied follower wanted to know more about Tracie’s black eye, asking: “What happened Tracie love?”

Another followed suit: “Crikey what’s happened?”

Amid the concerned comments and well-wishes, some followers decided to give Tracie some advice on how to take care of her black eye.

“Arnica will bring the bruising out quickly, if that helps”, one of them commented as another echoed: “Ouch. Arnica is a great healer. You could also use lavender essential oil (3 drops in 5ml of base oil although you can use it neat if you don’t have any base).”

One final fan suggested covering the bruising up, despite Tracie’s caption: “Oh dear take care of yourself. You can buy full camouflage make up.. Hope it gets better soon. Poor you.”

In a later post relayed on Monday, Tracie explained how she got the black eye in the first place to avoid any speculation.

“Just one more time, thanks for your concern about the visage & eye!”, she wrote.

“I did say before that my chair/stool fell over as I was trying to put a coffee down whilst FaceTiming a friend in Canada! It’ll be fine. Ta so much for the concern. I cried a bit then laughed.”
