CORONATION Street’s Beverley Callard is desperate to have her TV family, the McDonalds, reunite on the cobbles.

The 62-year-old actress is desperate for a 2020 reunion, with the star playing matriarch Liz in the ITV soap.

Beverley has called for a McDonald family reunion

It has been 10 years since the whole family were last seen on screen together, with Charlie Lawson playing Liz’s husband Jim, and the characters sharing two sons – Steve [Simon Gregson] and Andy [Nicholas Cochrane].

Beverley said: “I so wish the producers would get us all back together. I know the fans would love it.”

She continued to the Daily Star Sunday: “Charlie came back last year for a brief while, which was fantastic, and we are hoping it will happen again next year.”

The McDonalds are one of Corrie’s most popular families after making their debut in 1989.

Beverley reflected: “Life was never boring for Liz and Jim.

“I think the reason the McDonalds were so popular was because the writing was just so great.”

And the solid writing is what Beverley believes will keep her in the ITV soap, with the actress admitting that she has no plans to retire any time soon.

The four characters haven’t been on screen together for a decade

She remains one of Corrie’s longest-serving actors with three decades on the cobbles – and no sign of slowing down.

Beverley explained: “As long as they keep writing great scripts for me, I’ll stay because I love it.

“I don’t think actors ever retire. You just keep going.

“It’s very intense with the long hours, but I love it.”
