CORONATION Street’s Geoff Metcalfe will be exposed by the return of his ex-wife says a new fan theory.

The abuser – who is played by actor Ian Bartholomew in the ITV soap – has coercively controlled and bullied his wife Yasmeen Nazir to breaking point and set her up as the abuser.

Tim will be in for a shock if his mum returns

But viewers know that Geoff’s abuse didn’t begin with Yasmeen, and that he did the same thing to his ex, Tim’s mum.

Taxi boss Tim has been groomed by his dad into believing that his mum was the abuser in their relationship and thinks she is an alcoholic.

Fans know better and now they are convinced she will arrive on the cobbles to support Yasmeen and help free her from both prison and Geoff’s control.

One wrote: “I really hope Tim’s mum shows up sometime soon to expose geoff for what he really is #corrie”

Another added: “I don’t believe a word he says but I think that Tim’s mum will be showing up very soon & we will find out if what he is telling Yasmeen is true. #Corrie”

Corrie bosses recently confirmed the storyline would last until the end of the year – removing all hope Yasmeen’s ordeal would soon be over.

The shutdown has elongated that timeline meaning viewers could be waiting until Christmas for Yasmeen to be safe.

Iain MacLeod told HOAR Online: “The timelines have been shunted due to the lockdown but I think it’s fair to imagine that it will be this year.

“What form that comeuppance is is in discussion. We wanted a redemptive ending for Yasmeen obviously and the toughest it’s going to get for her is over the next months.

“It’s towards the end of the year but the key thing is to impart the right message. For the sake of the people it has impacted we have to tell the right ending with some positivity.”
