CORONATION Street’s Jack P Shepherd’s first ever scene on the soap was revealed today to celebrate his incredible two decades years on the cobbles.

The 32-year-old David Platt actor joined in 2000 when he was just 12 and has stayed with the role for so long he’s now at the heart of the show and earning a reported £200,000 a year.

Jack P Shepherd joined Coronation Street 20 years ago this week

He joined in April 20 years ago as the son of Martin, played by Sean Wilson, and Helen Worth’s Gail Platt and is seen answering his dad’s phone.

In a line that couldn’t come from any other show but Corrie, David says: “Hello… hello. Can I have an Eccles cake, mum?”

And when asked who’s on the line, he replies: “Some woman.

Corrie marked the milestone on its official Twitter account, writing: “Jack P Shepherd celebrated 20 years on the cobbles this week! Who wants to see his very first appearance from 26th April 2000? Oh, go on then… 😉.”

He is now a dad of two with a daughter called Nyla and son Reuben

Jack posed with girlfriend Hanni to promote a range of NHS charity T-shirts today

Fans were delighted, sharing their own memories of the character in the comments section.

One wrote: “I remember teenage David hiding E tabs in Bethany’s doll and her eating one! And who can forget “evil David”. My favourite storyline was David and Kylie though. Loved them as a couple. Awesome actor.”

Jack didn’t mention the anniversary, but posted a picture of him with girlfriend Hanni wearing matching NHS T-shirts ahead of tonight’s Clap for Carers round of applause.

He wrote: “We’re so pleased to be able to support our amazing @nhs. These great t-shirts you can get from @teejunkieofficial all profits go to #nhs #charities 🤘🏻.”

Jack has two children, an 11-year-old daughter called Nyla and a son called Reuben, six.

He began dating ITV worker Hanni soon after he split from Lauren Shippey, who is mother to two of his three children, in 2017 after 15 years together.

Last year the pair moved in together and have been posting funny videos together as they spend their days together at home – though he admitted he was a harsh director and said their Love Actually remake nearly split them up.
