CORONATION Street’s legendary serial killer Richard Hillman is returning to the screens for a one-off special episode.
ITV are airing a retrospective episode around Audrey Roberts, touching on the big plot points surrounding the salon owner.
However, the episode will also explore one of Coronation Street’s biggest storylines: serial killer Richard Hillman and his marriage to Audrey’s daughter Gail Platt.
Actor Brian Capron will return to the screens to speak about the story and about sharing scenes with Audrey.
Other castmates such as Jack P Shepherd and Helen Worth will be speaking about Sue Nicholls’ four decade-long tenure on the soap.
Richard Hillman was labelled “Norman Bates with a briefcase” by Gail when she discovered his crimes.
He left his business partner Duggie Ferguson to die after he fell off a ladder while working on the flats they both were developing.
Later, his ex-wife Patricia turned up to Weatherfield and threatened to ruin his reputation – but he murdered her with a shovel.
Then when he was running out of money, he attempted to attack Audrey to bag her inheritance, before deciding to target Emily instead.
However, he was interrupted by Maxine Peacock – who Richard murdered with a crowbar.
After attempting to set up Sarah for the crime and eventually being discovered, he tried to kill Gail, her children and granddaughter Bethany in the garage.
This lead to the iconic scene where he tried to plunge them all into the Weatherfield Canal. Luckily, they were rescued after a pursuit from Gail’s ex Martin, Kevin Webster and their co-worker Tommy Harris.
Coronation Street Icons: Audrey Roberts – 40 Fabulous Years will air tonight at 8pm on ITV.
