KYM Marsh has revealed that her Coronation Street co-star Alison King felt “immense guilt” as she gave birth to her daughter on the same day that Kym lost her son.
The 44-year-old star and her then-husband Jamie Lomas were left devastated in 2009 when baby Archie was born 21 weeks premature and died shortly after his birth.
And now Kym has revealed that her close friend Alison gave birth to her healthy daughter Daisy on the very same day – and was crippled with guilt and sadness.
Speaking on her new BBC show Morning Live, Kym explained: “My friend Alison King, a really good friend of mine who plays Carla Connor in Coronation Street, she gave birth to her daughter on the very same day that I lost my son – literally hours apart.
“And the immense guilt that she felt at the fact that she’d delivered her baby so safely and I’d lost my son, was such a hard time for both of us.”
However, Kym went on to admit that she finds comfort in watching Alison’s daughter Daisy grow up – and they acknowledge each other’s children on the bittersweet day.
She shared: “We bonded through that even more and, now we share the birthday pictures.
“I’ll light a candle for Archie, and I’ll send her a picture, and she’ll send me a picture of Daisy.”
The actress went on to express her heartache that some friends wouldn’t attend Archie’s funeral because it was too “difficult” for them to cope with.
She told her co-host Gethin Jones: “I had almost got to the point where I wasn’t accepting anything yet, but equally, I found that people didn’t know what to say to me or how to talk to me, so, therefore, avoided that completely.
“Some people didn’t want to come to his funeral because they felt… they just couldn’t cope with such a small baby’s funeral.
“They felt really difficult, it was a difficult thing for them.”
She continued: “When I lost my son, Archie, 11 years ago – and I lost him quite late in my pregnancy.
“I personally didn’t want to talk about it initially, because I felt that if I talked about it, it would be real.”
Kym also shares nine-year-old daughter Polly with her ex Jamie, who she split from in 2014.
She is also mum to 25-year-old David 23-year-old Emily, who she shares with ex Dave Cunliffe.
