BEEN glued to your telly during the pandemic?

Online electricals retailer AO.com has reported an 103 per cent increase in sales of TVs — with our favourite shows set to return following a pause on production due to coronavirus.

Online electricals retailer AO.com has reported an 103 per cent increase in sales of TVs

Gogglebox, EastEnders, and Coronation Street are all on their way back to our screens.

Lee Harper, TV expert at AO.com, said: “The rise in sales comes at a time when customers see an opportunity to upgrade their at-home entertainment set-up ahead of the colder weather.”

Here’s how you can save on TV screen time . . .

HD SAVINGS: Figures from AO.com showed the top-selling TV over the August bank holiday weekend was the Samsung 49in Curved Smart 4K Ultra HD TV.

Perfect for people who want high-quality telly. You can currently nab one for £399 at AO.com.

ON THE TABLE: If you need a stand or table for that new TV, check out wayfair.co.uk. They have some fab wooden options for various size TVs in their sale. My favourite is currently £73.99, down from £88.99.

Here are some top money-saving tips for improving your TV experience

SOUND INVESTMENT: Soundbars are very popular when it comes TV set-ups — but they can be costly. Options such as those by speaker specialists Bose, cost well over £200.

You can save big by opting for lesser-known brands. For example, head to currys.co.uk and snap up a Logik L32SBT17 2.0 Soundbar for just £24.99, down from £29.99.

LITTLE EXTRAS: I’m a huge fan of Freesat to save on my main channels — but it is nice to be able to enjoy little extras. I use Now TV for these, rather than expensive subscriptions.

I find Now TV especially good for films — and you can even access Sky Cinema, there as part of a seven-day free trial and it’s £11.99 a month after that.

It’s also great for children and there’s a Kids Pass available (also with a seven-day free trial) which then costs only £3.99 a month afterwards.
